I’m Helen. Here’s my story…
I qualified as a Registered Midwife (BSc. Hons Midwifery) 17 years and have practised for all of that time, except for when I was on maternity leave for my own three children.
Whilst working within the NHS setting, I was becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of opportunity to offer women/ couples individualised midwifery care to meet their own specific needs . And so, in 2009, I launched my own Independent Midwifery practice called “Midwife Care”, covering Central, South, and East London, as well as North Kent.
I offer women antenatal and postnatal home midwifery appointments, as well as antenatal classes. My clients can choose to either supplement their existing NHS care with additional appointments or alternatively Midwife Care can provide a full antenatal and postnatal care package. Women can access these appointments at any stage of pregnancy and up to eight weeks postnatally; appointments are generously timed, at flexible times of day or evening to suit , and usually in the woman’s own home. I do not offer intrapartum (labour and delivery) care but support and prepare women in making their choices for this.
I very much enjoy my work as a midwife and am passionate about providing personal midwifery care to the women I look after at this very unique time of their lives. I am a conscientious midwife, keeping myself up to date in all areas of practice, and provide evidence-based care.
